Captain Vreeland
Chief Pilot
Experienced Pilots For Hire Our Chief Pilot, Thomas R. (T.R.) Vreeland graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL. TR graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2000; graduating "With Great Honor" after taking a double course load for five consecutive semesters. He was actively involved in the campus community, Treasurer of his Fraternity and maintained a full time Airline Pilot position, flying a HAZMAT freighter, with Trans Florida Airlines of Daytona Beach, FL.

With the events of 9/11, the US government no longer permitted Part 121 Air Carriers to transport explosives, TFA's principle cargo contract. TR rebounded quickly taking a position with Care Flight International, Inc of St. Petersburg, FL. Returning to the venerable Learjet (prior to attending ERAU, TR flew organ procurement for the Mayo Clinic in a Lear 55), where he was introduced to the other side of the Air Ambulance Community, transporting patients 24/7/365 in need of urgent, life saving medical care.

When Care Flight International ceased operations, TR was offered a Check Airmans position under FAA Air Carrier Certificate No. SUZA688I, Able American Jets, Inc of St. Petersburg, FL. He spent the next couple of years instructing new SIC and PIC upgrades in the Learjet Series of Aircraft, performing critical care international transport of patients and VIP charters.

After successfully completing over 1,200 patient, organ procurement and VIP charter flights (DOT Administrator Elizabeth Dole's preferred personal Captain) in the Learjet, TR received a call from a former colleague, who was now in a management position at Southeast Airlines, Inc of Largo/St. Petersburg, FL. TR proceeded to indoctrination training on the DC-9-31 and MD-82/88 series of aircraft. He greatly enjoyed flying "self loading freight" as passengers are affectionately referred to in the industry.

In 2005, after Southeast Airlines ceased operations, TR found himself at a cross road, with an opportunity to go to work for himself in a 14 CFR Part 91 capacity operating Part 25 Aircraft. As an independent contractor, he took delivery of a Learjet and had an STC for a camera door modification installed at Bizjet in Tulsa, OK.    *continued...
